yesterday: homemade pizza (we didn't have it last week)
tonight: spaghetti with leftover hamburger from pizza
tuesday: triscuit chicken
wednesday: cheeseburger rollup
thursday: open (we like to keep one night open for leftovers, easy, going out...)
friday through sunday: DH is on call (booo that) so i'll be doing whatever!
this weekend was great! Friday, DH and I celebrated our anniversary (pics to come) at the Melting Pot. We love it there! MILC: you'll be proud: it was 2.5 hours of sharing! And good food, yummy chocolate, and nice conversation! Oh, and a burned lip, i burned it on the cooking fork. oooouch. it was okay til Sunday, when it was a blister so now it looks like i have a cold sore. bah.
saturday was picking up DH's car (yea...no work needed to be done, just learned that "some brakes sometimes make squeaks...," and home. That night we went to watch UFC with our friends and as always, we had a great time. We grilled out and had a trainwreckofacake: dump cake. lets just say, i need to practice that one!
sunday was errands, grocery shopping, and relaxing. i had a headache and DH needed to finish up work. Then, we noticed our puppy was either having back issues or constipation issues. we are trying some milk for now (he looooooves it) and hoping he'll be back to normal asap!

...to move 800 miles away from home
...to actually like it there (here)
...to be alone more weekends in one year than not
...to learn to appreciate those together weekends
...to be woken up with pager noises
...to be glad that he's home with me
...to eat dinner alone most nights that first year
...to actually like cooking now
...to be the single parent to our dog
...to love having the three of us play
...to gain so much weight over two years because of depression
...to finally see sunshine in life and make better choices
...to leave a wealth of friends behind
...to make some great friends here
...to miss my HMO
...to be thankful i have 2 health insurances
...to miss cities97
...to love the morning zoo
but, i can choose to put a smile on and make today (and everyday) a great day.

our menu this week
in case you're wondering and all:
today: mini meat loaves, grapes (very tasty, but DH still used ketchup! not a total success!)
tomorrow: chicken of somesort
wednesday: homemade pizza (we're trying a 24hr crispy crust dough!)
thursday: well, yea
friday: OUR ANNIVERSARY!
i was totally bumming at the grocery store this week, we only had 3 coupons, 1-the store didn't have the item, 1-it was way more cost effective to buy in bulk vs. one w/ coupon and 1-we used! and, we forgot to use our gift card. so, not a finance-forward grocery trip!
but.......i ran 2.5miles today! only walked a bit at the beginning and the end. I also didn't let the uber fast runner intimidate me on the next treadmill...i. will. get. there. too. right??
have a good week! If you're like me, it'll be a looong one after the holiday week and fun past weekend :/

some favorite memories of the 4th
Growing up, we always went to a family friend's house.....there we'd eat lots of goooooood food, like
someone always made it.
us kids, we'd
with dish soap on it. it was always fun, until a stick poked you or you skinned your knee on a rock.
sometimes we'd make s'more, play nintendo (old school!) or play at the playground.
we'd end the day with the fireworks, watching them on the deck, wrapped in blankets (it gets cooler at night in minnesota, donchaknow). bug spray was needed and the littlest ones would fall asleep.

fast forward a few years when I'd go with DH and his family to their friends' homes to watch fireworks and of course, eat good potluck food! we'd play rounds of
and even got a set as a wedding gift from one of those good family friends.

now that we're in c-bus, they celebrate the fourth of july on the third of july. we just can't get used to that, and haven't attended yet. (maybe its the forseeable crowds and craziness too). it's called: Red, White, Boom. but we'll miss it again this year, we'll be heading to a suburb to watch the fireworks on. the. fourth.
last year we celebrated with these cool kids:
we'll miss them this year!

that DH and I had a wonderful weekend! good food, good friends, good moods...can't beat that!

tonight is the new pork chop recipe....with cranberries, stuffing, bbq sauce, and brown sugar. hmmm...usually i don't like my meals too sweet, i'm more of a savory kind-of-gal, so we'll see how this goes.
I Am Wearing
black pants, christmas socks with shih-tzu's on them, and a tan and black top from NY and Co.
I Am Creating
a book for a family in C-bus, some recipe cards, a book of my weekend home in May, and other fun random cards/los. looooove it.
I Am Going
to go to the gym tonight. there i said it, must be true.
Around The House
diet coke cans that didn't make it to today's recycling. bear's toys that he tosses everywhere. shoes by the door because we can't seem to put them up and away.

long afternoon naps, in PJs and in bed.

work, gym, dinner with a CS Friend, fireworks, maybe a picnic/bbq, maybe the zoo, maybe a movie. lots of maybes in there make for a fun weekend i'm sure!
